World Day of Social Justice
Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you.
Hosea 10:12
February 20th is the World Day of Social Justice. Every year, we like to take a moment to bring awareness to this important day and make sure it has a wide-reaching impact. Though social justice is always on our minds, we know there’s always more to be done.
Social injustices happen all the time. The greed and self-righteousness of some lead to poverty and suffering for others. Our team sees the effects of this in the families and individuals that we help. The purpose of World Day of Social Justice is to achieve support for social integration and equality. It focuses on issues like poverty, housing insecurity, unemployment, exclusion, and more.
These issues lead to lasting effects for the individuals who experience them. Those who live in poverty suffer from higher rates of mental illness and are 3 times more likely to commit suicide than individuals with financial support.
On February 20th, our aim is to spread awareness of what can be done, as well as show the profound effects that social justice can have on a community. Efforts to help those less fortunate are effective and make a significant difference.
Vision for Israel provides an opportunity for you to engage in social justice at any time of the year. Our mission is to provide financial assistance, essential supplies, and rehabilitation opportunities for individuals and families experiencing poverty. We provide opportunities for these families to feel included, cared for, and “normal.” We know that their circumstances do not define them; God loves them regardless of their social or financial status.
At Vision for Israel, we are working on rehabilitation through music and the arts. The workshops we provide approach social justice from a new angle, giving several groups of people an opportunity to grow and heal. However, this can only be done with your help. The cost for each participant is about $200 and our goal is to sponsor 100 people. This low amount has the capacity to change endless lives, and further the mission of social justice well into the future.
We value your donations and rely heavily on your support. God calls all of us to serve, you can answer that call by donating here. We hope that a passion for social justice ignites your heart, and inspires you to take action against systems of poverty, oppression, and exclusion.
May the Lord Bless and Keep You.
