Nourishing the Roots of Our Nation's Future

Saturday, May 6, 2023

"Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

Luke 18:16b

Dear Friend,

As the Feast of First Fruits or Shavu'ot, approaches, we are reminded of its rich history and significance to the Jewish and Christian communities. Shavu'ot, known as Pentecost in the Christian tradition, marks the giving of the Torah to the nation of Israel at Mount Sinai and the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus.

We are also reminded of the importance of investing in the future of our nation. Just as Shavu'ot is a time to celebrate the first fruits, we recognize the immense potential within our young children, who are like the first fruits themselves.

In the essence of the holiday, we invite you to participate in a wonderful opportunity to support Israeli families in need by helping us provide backpacks filled with school supplies for 2,000 children.

At Vision for Israel, we have been providing backpacks filled with essential school supplies to students from underprivileged families for over 20 years. Our Pack to School project has already impacted the lives of nearly 300,000 children, giving them the tools they need to succeed in their education and make Israel a better place in the future.

Shavu'ot has strong agricultural roots as a harvest festival. The Jews, when settled in the Promised Land, celebrated the Lord's provision for His people during Shavu'ot. They presented the first fruits of their spring crops to the Lord as a freewill offering, in accordance with Deuteronomy 16:10 and Numbers 28:26.

"On the Day of Firstfruits, when you offer to Adonai a new grain offering during the Feast of Weeks, you are to have a sacred assembly. You are to do no laborious work."

This year, our goal is to provide 2,000 children with backpacks, and we need your help to make this possible. Each backpack, including writing supplies, costs $45.

As we celebrate Shavu'ot, we invite you to join us in blessing these precious children and investing in their future.

By supporting this initiative, you are contributing to the essence of Shavu'ot, as we provide much-needed assistance to Israeli families and help supply backpacks with essential school items for children. Together, we can ensure that no child is left behind as they embark on their educational journey. Thank you for your generosity and support.

Vision for Israel is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity. All contributions designated for specific projects shall be applied to those projects, and we may assess up to 20% to be used for administering the gift.
