Celebrate a Legacy of Giving

Saturday, July 15, 2023

"Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

2 Corinthians 9:7

Dear Friend,

Every year on July 15, we celebrate a remarkable individual whose vision and dedication have made a profound impact on countless lives across Israel: Barry Segal, CEO and co-founder of Vision for Israel. This year, instead of gifts, Barry has one special desire: to bring aid to the families who need it most in Israel.

Barry's life has been an incredible journey of service and dedication. Born in the vibrant city of Detroit, or Motown as it's affectionately known. Barry experienced close brushes with death as a teenager, and when he was saved in 1971, he held firm to his faith, finding solace and strength in his beliefs.

Before making Aliyah in 1981 and marrying the love of his life, Batya, in 1987, Barry pursued a career in radio and TV production. Later, in the early 90s, a profound vision changed his life's course: a vision that Israel would experience a period of abundance followed by great need. This vision led him and Batya to establish Vision for Israel in 1994, where he has been working tirelessly to provide for those in need.

From the young Barry working in a pizza place and setting up a film projector on a Great Lakes island to becoming a rock musician as a teenager deep in the music scene; his spirit of service was evident even in his early years. Barry's passion for giving back has only grown stronger over the years.

His work with Vision for Israel is a testament to his commitment to helping those in need, and this year, on his birthday, we're inviting you to join us in making his birthday hope come true.

In honor of Barry's birthday, we're asking for donations to our Aid to the Poor fund. As summer progresses, we start preparations for the High Holidays by purchasing gift cards for over a thousand families. On average, each family receives about $80. Your donation can make a significant difference in the lives of these families, providing them with essential resources during this special time.

So this July, let's celebrate Barry's birthday in the most meaningful way possible: by giving to those who need it most. Your donation to Vision for Israel in lieu of a birthday gift for Barry will help us continue to provide crucial support to families across Israel.

Join us in wishing Barry “Yom Huledet Same’ach”! Extend your birthday blessings to Barry by dedicating your donation to Vision for Israel's Aid to the Poor fund today.

Praying you have a blessed and joyous summer (Kayitz Same’ach),

Vision for Israel is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity. All contributions designated for specific projects shall be applied to those projects, and we may assess up to 20% to be used for administering the gift. Occasionally, we receive more contributions for a given project than can be wisely applied to that project. When that happens, we use these funds to meet a similar pressing need.
