As you read this letter, we want you to picture Michal, a 35-year-old single mother of two in Jerusalem who is trying to make ends meet with a full-time job as a secretary and two children with severe ADD. Despite her hard work, Michal is struggling to provide basic necessities for herself and her children. Her ability to work is often compromised because of the responsibility of raising her two children as well as a health condition that has been burdening her for many years. The cost of living in Israel is so high that she cannot afford to pay for all her basic expenses, such as rent, current payments, electricity, water, clothing, and food. There is no doubt that the food baskets and the monthly financial aid she receives from VFI are like oxygen for her.
