Your Gift of Hope: Rebuilding Israeli Families' Lives

Saturday 6 January 2024

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jeremiah 29:11

Dear Friends,

As 2024 begins, and we find ourselves in the wake of the war in Israel, our hearts ache as we ponder the "day after" - when evacuated families face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives amidst ruins. The personal stories of these families are heart-wrenching, and among them is Liat's account from Kibbutz Be'eri.

Liat's world turned upside down on that fateful Saturday morning on 7 October. Awakened by explosions, she found herself amidst a horrific attack. As terrorists stormed through the kibbutz, she and others, including small children, hid in a safe room, facing many hours of fear and uncertainty. The community was besieged, and the ensuing chaos was unimaginable. Families like Liat's faced terror, loss, and the destruction of everything familiar.

After enduring hours of terror, Liat and her neighbours were rescued under harrowing circumstances, escaping amidst ongoing gunfights and the smell of war. The relief of rescue was profound, yet the pain of loss was overwhelming. She recounts her return to Kibbutz Be'eri a month later, finding her neighbourhood unrecognizable, miraculously, her home still standing amidst the devastation.

Liat's story is just one of many. Today, 126,000 evacuees sheltered in hotels face the grim reality of returning to their destroyed homes. Many are unemployed, without the means to rebuild. The government and insurance companies will aid in structural rebuilding, but the heart of a home - its furnishings, appliances, the essence of everyday life - is the responsibility of each family.

Vision for Israel is committed to helping these families rebuild their homes and their lives. Our goal is to provide £8,000 each to 200 families, particularly those with five or more members. This sums to a total of £1,600,000 aimed at restoring essentials like furniture, electrical appliances, and linens.

Your support has always been the cornerstone of our efforts. We call upon you, our generous supporters, to stand with these families. Your donation can transform lives, rebuild homes, and restore hope in the hearts of many. Together, we can bring stability and comfort back to those who have lost so much.

As we embark on this journey of restoration, let us remember the power of unity and compassion. Your support is not just a donation; it's a beacon of hope, a testament to the strength of the community.

Your contribution can transform lives and restore hope. Please visit www.visionforisrael.com/donate to make your donation.

"The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel."

Psalm 147:2

Shalom and blessings,

Vision for Israel is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity. All contributions designated for specific projects shall be applied to those projects, and we may assess up to 20% to be used for administering the gift.
